| ASA: Annual Meeting | |
The ASA Board voted on November 5, 1989 to restructure the organization of its Annual Meeting beginning in 1992. Following the practice of many other professional associations and learned societies, the Board decided to appoint both an Annual Meeting Program Chair and a Panels Chair, each to have a separate committee. The Program Chair and Panels Chair are expected to coordinate their activities, and therefore be in contact with one another throughout the planning process. Each serves as an ex officio member of the other's committee. The Program Chair must represent, and therefore be recruited from, the local institution (or consortium of institutions) that sponsors the meeting. The Panels Chair is recruited nationally (although s/he may coincidentally reside at the proposed conference site). Both are appointed by the Board. ASA Executive Office | |
