The African Studies Association (ASA) invites its members to nominate individuals for the 2009 Distinguished Africanist Award. The ASA Distinguished Africanist Award recognizes a lifetime of notable contributions to African studies. The Award is presented at the Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony and consists of a plaque and a lifetime membership in the African Studies Association. Any current member of the ASA is eligible to nominate a candidate for the Distinguished Africanist Award. To nominate a candidate, submit the complete dossier to the ASA Secretariat, postmarked on or before April 1, 2010. The complete dossier of the candidate may be emailed as an attachment to publications@africanstudies.org or mailed to African Studies Association, Distinguished Africanist Award, Rutgers University, Douglass Campus, 132 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1400. The ASA Distinguished Africanist Award was established in the 1980's to recognize and honor scholars who have contributed a lifetime record of outstanding scholarship in their respective field of African studies and service to the Africanist community. Criteria for the Award are the distinction of contribution to Africanist scholarship, as measured by a lifetime of accomplishment and service in the field of African studies.
