 | New History in Africa Editors Appointed Feb 11, 2010 04:52 PM

We would first like to thank those members of the ASA community who offered compelling proposals and ideas for the future of History in Africa. The strong quality of the proposals made the process of selecting a new editor heartening yet difficult. We took into consideration the scholarly strengths and experience of the applicants, their vision for the journal and their ability to meet the logistical demands of the publication. After careful deliberation, the ASA Board of Directors has selected the editorial team of Jan Jansen (University of Leiden) Dmitri Van den Bersselaar (University of Liverpool), Michel Doortmont (University of Groningen), and John Hanson (Indiana University) to assume the helm of History in Africa. They bring strong reputations, the strength and reach of four networks as well as the resources to share and divide the tasks. We are confident that their vision for the journal combined with their editorial experience will maintain History in Africa’s high quality while expanding its horizons.
