African Studies Association Invites Applications for the Position of Executive Director

The African Studies Association invites applications for the position of Executive Director.  The Executive Director manages the ASA secretariat located at Rutgers University in New Jersey and oversees the organization of the Association’s annual meeting, membership services, and publications.  The Executive Director is responsible for managing the ASA budget and for supervision of the staff.  Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director represents the ASA to Rutgers, the membership, Africa scholars and policy-makers, and to the wider public.  

Qualifications:  advanced degree in an area relevant to African Studies or equivalent experience in Africa or Africa-related issues;  demonstrated administrative experience including budgetary, event, and program management; fundraising and development experience highly desirable; excellent written and oral communications skills required.

Competitive salary.

With approximately 1,600 individual and institutional members, the ASA is the largest professional association of African specialists in the world.
