- Oversees the finances of the Association
- Oversees the ASA investment portfolio
Executive Committee - Chaired by the President
- Includes the Vice President, Past President, Executive Director (ex officio), Treasurer (ex officio), and Chair, Finance/Investment Committee
- Responsible for making decisions on behalf of the entire Board in the intervals between the biannual Board meetings
Nominations Committee - Chaired by the Vice President
- Makes recommendations for the Association's annual election slate
- Reviews policies related to membership

- Reviews recommendations for the Association's prizes and awards
- Recommends committee members for the Association's prize and award committees
Publications Committee - Chaired by a Board member
- Includes ASA journal editors and a liaison from the Africana Librarians Council
- Oversees publications and African Studies Association Press activities
Strategic Planning Committee - Chaired by the President
- Designs and manages a strategic planning process which engages the full Board and the wider association
- Sets milestones and timelines for the ASA strategic planning
- Recommends strategic direction and designs strategic conversations
