The African Studies Association 2008 Election Committee conducted the ballot count at the ASA Secretariat on Monday, October 20. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the election results:
The Vice President-elect is Charles Ambler, (History, U of Texas at El Paso).
The three Board Members-elect are: Emmanuel Kwaku Akyeampong (History and African and African American Studies, Harvard University), Mary Johnson Osirim (Sociology, Bryn Mawr College), and M. Anne Pitcher (Political Science, Colgate University). The ASA Board of Directors congratulates the new officer and directors and extends its sincerest appreciation to all the candidates for their willingness to serve the Association.
The ASA Board of Directors also wishes to thank the ASA members who served on the 2008 Election Committee: Mark Darko, Jubilee Revival Center, and Sean Jacobs, Brooklyn, NY.
