Childcare Now Available at the ASA Annual Meeting

At the 2015 Annual Meeting of the African Studies Association, the ASA partnered with KiddieCorp to provide childcare services to annual meeting attendees during the conference. KiddieCorp will join the ASA in DC to provide childcare services from 8:00am-6:30pm each day of the conference. Parents of children aged 6 mos. to 12 years old are welcome to utilize this service for any amount of time over the three days for an hourly fee.

At the 2015 Annual Meeting, the KiddieCorp team organized group games such as dodgeball, learning how to eat with chopsticks, free style dancing, story time, and a fashion show of international hats. The theme of the 2015 childcare program was “Wonderful World of Friends”, which included activities such as making flags from various countries and learning how to say hello in several different languages.

Please note that because the ASA helps subsidize the hourly rate, a limited number of childcare spots will be available at the 2016 conference. You can register for childcare via this online form.

If you utilized the childcare service at the 2015 Annual Meeting and have any feedback you’d like to share about you or your child’s experience, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
